Adulteration in gold ornaments

Sir,

I recently bought gold jewels worth Rs.1 lakh from both GRT jewellers and SRI KUMARAN THANGAMALIGAI.

Though the jewels contained 916 KDM Hallmark and even the jewellers name in it, it contained excess amount of copper than the permissible percentage.

After 3 months the edges of the jewels faded out and gave a clearer view of the copper underlying it. Since, it had all those genuine gold's trade certification marks like 916 etc the jeweller GRT took it back but on the ground of exchange only. But we are yet to approach SRI KUMARAN THANGA MALIGAI. It seems these gold trademarks are just an eyewash.
