Through this letter, I want to draw the attention of the authorities concerned. I am writing this letter in response to a shocking incident that took place yesterday (05-10). Like always I had visited Big Bazaar located at Kalyani nagar pune. I had shopped for two 5kg bag of rice and two 1 litre pouches of oil. At the cash counter I was told that I wont be allowed to exit the building if I didn't buy 3 plastic bags (1 for the pouches of oil and 2 for the bags of rice which already had cloth handles on them). This was very shocking because not only the counter attendant, but also the supervisor was adamant. It is my understanding that the Government has decided to charge consumers for plastic bags so as to discourage them from using them. What Big bazaar is doing is clearly encouraging or rather FORCING consumers to use plastic bags! I'm pretty sure i'm not the only one with a complaint of this nature. I've tried getting in touch with the consumer court about the same but in vain. I would like to make this SCAM public and put and end to it.
