Hi

My name is Amit Mehta and I have a salary account with Standard Chartered Bank. I had deposited a cheque for INR 15, 987 at Standard Chartered Bank, Barakhamba Road ATM (automatic cheque machine) on 2 JUL.

However on checking my statement after few days I found that the cheque was not credited into my account (Company issuing cheque is also A/C holder for SCB). On this I contacted (telephonic converstaion) the bank who after investigating advised that the same has been held back by them due to insufficient fund in the account of the cheque issuance company.

On this I advised that this should not be the case, however even then why was my cheque not represented/return and let it bounce so that I could have taken it up with the concerned perosn who had issued the cheque to me and secondly why was I not informed that my cheque was being put on hold by the bank and who had given them the right to take the decision to do so.

After nearly 10 days the amount was credited into my account on 12-07.

My request of giving me a written explanation with the reason of delay in the clearenace of my account has till date not been accepted by the bank.

I would request your kind intervention in seeking me justice to get the above matter sorted and appropriate action against the bank which has not only caused a lot of anger and frustration but has alse resulted in dealy of my pending dues which I had promised in lieu of the clearance of this cheque.

My complaint No with SCB is SHEE90/LC/0710/8.
