Citi Bank Charges for NRI Account cheque clearance

I opened NRI account with Citi Bank in Ahmedabad.

I went with cash but bank refused to open my account. Bank asked me US$ 1000 cheque to open account. I provided cheque.

When money got deposited I received US$ 915 only.

I asked CITI bank and they refused to tell me that it is their charge. Instead they asked to inquire with Bank of America. BOA told me that there is no such charge.

I showed all communication to CITI in India but did not provided me with refund.

I send legal notice with allegation that bank did not informed me that there will be a charge. As an American bank you are required to know this and also inform new customer.

Surprise, I received full refund with apology.

I closed my account with CITI.
