I had shifted my household belongings from Karnal (Haryana) to Bathinda (Punjab) through M/s Piyush International Packers & Movers, 108, Transport Nagar, Ludhiana-141003 (09216572657 Mr Sudhir Singh, 9872776657, 9464137757) vide consignment note no 524 dated 18 june with pre-consulted & pre-agreed quotation for which payment in cash Rs 22528/- was made (vide receipt no PIPM/618 dated 18th June).
This payment included agreed transportation/packing/unpacking charges as well as in transit insurance charges of Rs 3170/- (@ 2% of declared value of goods) for which Mr Sudhir on phone confirmed to have done in transit insurance of goods through govt approved insurance agency & charged Rs 3170/- in this final bill with an assurance to provide the scan copy of Insurance cover note on mail in next 24 hours after shifting completed & requested for full payment of Rs 22528/- (Including Rs 3170/- for said insurance charges for which cover note was yet to be provided).
Full payment including Insurance charges was paid upfront vide abovementioned receipt number on verbal assurance, but next day, to my surprise M/s Piyush Packer mailed to me a "Carrier Risk Performa for Declaration of goods in transit by road" of Rs 3170/- mentioning insurance premium charged. I contacted
Mr Sudhir and objected that this bill is invalid and instead i should be provided with valid original insurance cover note copy of Govt approved insurance company (viz Oriental Insurance, General Insurance Corp etc) as confirmed earlier by Packer that in transit insurance has been done duly.. I also questioned
if no prior in transit insurance of goods was done then why i was charged Rs 3170/- over and above agreed quotation charges under "in transit insurance" head in final bill i paid on verbal assurance, to which Mr Sudhir assured that necessary cover note's copy will be provided in 2-3 days but after that
instead of numerous follow ups on phone & written mails at id [email protected], Piyush Packer failed to provide me the same.
These charges could not be reimbursed to me by my employer in absence of valid insurance cover note copy and has been a loss to me for which i have suffered stress and mental agony as well as financial loss.
I seek redressal for, in case this approved packer & mover has till date failed to provide valid insurance cover note copy for which they have wrongfully & fraudulently charged Rs 3170/- from me, they should be directed to reimburse the same amount to me at the earliest.
