From my NRI account I issued a draft to my builder in local city in INDIA on Sep 22. I put beneficiary name as XYZ group "countywalk" (in double quote).

The draft printed beneficiary name as XYZ group? countywalk? Replace double quote to question mark by bank online software. When I made complain to bank, they told me that "Bank online software can not handle special character". It was so funny that, how come bank software replace the original character. Suppose you ask draft for Vincent D'souza, it is going to print Vincent D? souza.

Beneficiary refuse to accept the draft and return bank to ICICI bank by courier (already received by bank last week).

I wrote many email to [email protected] and spoke to them on phone, wrote a letter to cancel the draft itself. Nothing happen after two weeks of continues one way communication. Every time I receive standard email response for writing back letter for request to cancel the draft. I also send scanned copy of letter attached with the mail. I live in USA and can not go directly to branch and resolve issue directly. I have to depend on phone and email.

Today is October 11 and still struggling with the same issue. Same time builder is charging me interest and penalty. I don't know when I will get the money bank in my account.

I learned my lesson by opening account with ICICI Bank. Their customer service is useless. Once my money is back, I am going to close the account.

I am requesting you not to deal with this bank.
