This is regarding public awareness about recruitment of drug inspectors by Department of Health and Family Welfare, Punjab. This department is violating punjab service rule no. 17 (Knowledge of Punjabi language) of Government of Punjab, Department of Health and Family Welfare (HEALTH IV BRANCH) Notification 22nd October in Govt. Gaz., Nov.2 (KRTK 11, 1923 SAKA) GSR 105/Const./art. 309 and The Punjab Civil service (General and common conditions of Services) Rules 1994. The eligible candidates screened through entrance examination are being considered inelligible and the seats are being filled by unfair means (political and other sources). The selection committee is also not approved by government and recruitment procedure is not fair at all.
The advertisement in “The Tribune” for various posts of medical officer, dental and drug inspector dated 2.05.10 invited applications. Entrance examination for drug inspector post was held on 8-08-10 and merit list of candidates was declared on 23-08-10. Later on dated 7-09-10, new list was released and majority of candidates in the merit list were rejected because they donot have Punjabi matriculation certificate. This basis of rejection of candidates is not fair because this condition is nowhere mentioned in service rules. Instead, according to the service rule no. 17, selected candidates for the post of drug inspector get 6 months time to clear Punjabi exam after the appointment. Service rules can be checked at their website pbhealth.gov.in
