Sub: Complaint against service of Ford figo (Invoice No VSLAA00037LS/Dtd :03/05).

Dear Sir,

My name is Karma Choda Bhutia s/o N.T.Bhutia, Kewzing Road, Ravangla, South Sikkim, contact : 09593986942.We purchased a white Ford Figo (Invoice No VSLAA00037LS/Dtd :03/05) from your centre Bansal Automotives Pvt Ltd, Near Commercial Check Post, N.H.31, Gossainpur, Darjeeling, Contact 0353-2552686/87/94/97.While at the time of purchasing the then representative said that everything at ford is good the car and the service too. So far I dont have any complaint against the car as its good and is upto the mark. The problem I am facing is in the servicing. On Saturday the 4th of Sept my car faced this problem of waterlogging in the fuel filter. Immediately I read the manual which clearly said not to drive the vehicle as the engine would get seized and the insurance cannot be claimed. It said to contact the dealer immediately. So I contacted your nearest service centre at Gangtok. They said they would correspond on Monday which they did not. Finally on Tuesday I called them up and said that the matter has been forwarded to Siliguri as theres no technician at Gangtok. I called up Bansal automobiles Siliguri and was transferred to the servicing Department where I spoke to Mr Ghosh who said that he'll send a technician and in that regards I sent my home address too. The next day Wednesday I called him up and said no one arrived he then said that hes sending a technician on Friday as hes going to Gangtok. On Friday morning I get a call from Mr Ghosh asking me to pick the technician from Singtam. I said to Mr Ghosh that there are lots of service vehicles who ply on the route on sharing basis and the technician can pay Rs 50 to get here. On that Mr Ghosh said that hell send another technician on Monday the 13th of September.

I then called up the centre at Siliguri where I got transferred to the Manager there who said to cope up with them. Reading at the history written in the mail dont you think that I have coped? We are government contractors professionally and the reason to buy a car is to speed up the process of working under our government and this week I have not been able to do some of the works as for the time being I am travelling myself on share vehicles. We also have other vehiclles of other company such as Mahindra, Tata, Ashok Leyland, Swaraj Mazda who have been giving us service for many years and never did we face any problem. Of course at the start when we purchased Scorpio 2nd model Mahindra we faced problem with the vehicle itself. We wrote to Mahindra Mumbai and immediately they got this rectified but we never faced problems with dealers and their service as the promise they keep at the time of sale has been kept and maintained so far due to which our relation with Mahindra has grown in the past years and have bought numerous vehicles from them which you can check with Sikkim Motors Gangtok. In comparison to all these companies Ford is an American company and I personally know the reputation of Ford as a company.

It has been 7 days since the vehicle is lying at my lawn in the same condition. Now at this present moment I can say that Ford is a company full of lies... Lie # 1 : At the time of purchasing the sales representative should have given us the true fact of service. She should have said that there would be a problem in servicing which she denied. I personally know that its atleast 120 kms from Siliguri to Ravangla and it takes time for anyone to arrive here but dont you think that 1 week is more than sufficient for anyone to go to any corner of the world. Lie # 2 Correspondance of both centres Gangtok and Siliguri is bad with customers as they forget to call/correspond. Lie # 3 A techinican to arrive Ravangla on Wednesday. Lie # 4 A techincian to arrive on Friday which he did to Sikkim (Singtam) but was not sent to Ravangla. Incident # 5 Mr Ghosh asking to drive the vehicle to Siliguri on Tuesday when he knows that by doing so waht would happen (refer manual page no : 41 (Instruments).

So far this is the very first time that I have faced such a problem and the manager said to co-operate and wait till Monday. Now looking at the history above dont you think that I have co-operated with the dealer/service centre. It is taking 10 days for a car to get serviced by a dealer. The experience has really been bitter for me and I write my share of bitterness to you and I am really unpleased with the service. Also in the near future we were thinking of buying a Ford Endeavour because of the make and the run of the vehicle but now I throw away this share of eagerness to buy the same as the service is hopeless even if the vehicle is really good. This is what I'll share as feedbacks with buyers of Sikkim who would want to buy a Ford car and also print htis in the daily local paper NOW/SIKKIM EXPRESS Gangtok warning people of Ford and its service. I have this vehicle which seems as a burden to me now and I did make the biggest mistake by buying this vehicle instead should have bought other cars from Hyundai/Maruti/Tata/Mahindra etc. I am forwarding you this mail and am sending a mail directly to Mr Michael Boneham (President & Managing Director) through the website of Ford. Secondly I am sending a copy of this to the corporate office of Ford at Chennai too.
