Sub: Request for putting display boards for group booking at Individual reservation
counters – Extending additional reservation counters in evening hours.
Respected Sir,
With reference above subject matter, I appreciate the valuable services being offered by Indian railways to the public by providing reservation counters/ and also online reservations etc. all over the city in Hyderabad and all others places in India
Inspite of number of valuable services provided by the Indian railways, ignorance of small points causing travelers/applicants/public a great harassment and some times the travelers may quarrel with the employees of the Indian railway and make arguments with them.
The undersigned was in a queue which is very long at Reservation counter No. 17 at around 7.00 pm on 06.04.2010 at Secunderabad railway reservation counter for booking reservation for his family of 7 members. When his turn was came at 7.40 pm (when the reservation counter will close at 8.00 pm), the clerk (Mrs. Mahalaxmi) at counter no. 17 informed to contact counter No. 34 specifically for the same as the required booking is a group booking. The undersigned is unaware of the group booking and he has an idea only that one form will be accepted for 6 members from one person.. Therefore, he was accompanied by is friend so that he was expecting tickets to be booked. But the clerk bitterly indicated that no ticket will be issued unless approval was made. Inspite of repeated request made as the counter due time is 8.00 pm, the counter clerk not willing to co-operate and bluntly refused. Then the undersigned insisted to make reservation for 6 members as he thought approval for 7 members may become late and the tickets could not be booked. Then the clerk done for six members rejecting the form for one person (seventh person) and telling that no ticket will be issued for the seventh member though his friend in queue to make the reservation.
There may be rules & regulations. The rules & regulation must be helpful for facilitating the service to the public but not for harassing the public. If the display board of group booking is available at counter No. 17 and all reservation counters (i.e. more than 6 members may approach counter No. 34 for group booking), no such person like the undersigned will wait until his turn came. However, the reservation clerk can extend her curtsey for making the reservation for 7 member as there are 2 person in queue so that she can make reservations for 12 members (in this case 7 members) with out interrupting the rules. As you are aware that in cities like Hyderabad, the applicants/travelers find less time for their private works. Therefore they approach reservation counters in evening hours only. Thus the peak hours are evening hours only for reservation counters. Surprisingly, the additional counters at Secunderabad are operating in morning hours i.e. 8.00 am to 2.00 pm.
Hence I request the Indian railways to display the board of group booking at all reservation counters indicating that If reservation for more than 6 persons, the applicants may approach respected counter No. for approval and making group reservations which help applicants for time saving and unavoidable delay & confusion
and also extend the counters in the evening hours.
