We had to move into our new house and we got the contact details of one Mr. Kumar at Chennai Packers. In our initial dealing he did not mention a limit of around 15 cartons for a local move. We had agreed at 4500 INR for the packing and movement of goods. When the packers arrived, the boxes filled up and there was only 1/4th of the stuff at home packed. On contacting Mr. Kumar he spoke in a very demeaning manner and demanded 1000 INR more for extra boxes, on accussing him of misinformation he disconnected the phone and never picked again. As a consumer with old parents, I had to run around in the heat of Chennai prcoure my own boxes and continue the packing. The final payment was pegged at 5000 INR and Mr. Kumar was not receiving the call. Apart from the 5000 INR payment, there were payments to be made to each of the labourer for food and extra amount (350 per labourer, for 4 labourers it was I400 INR). These costs were not mentioned in our initial discussion. We landed up paying 2000 INR extra for the low level of service provided.
