Fortune Cars Pvt. Ltd
Mishandled car Seized the engine

Sir

I gave (on 15th March) my car to Fortune Cars for minor electrical repairs like

1. AC condenser not working properly and erratic functioning of AC

2. Horn not working properly

3. Light adjustment and replacement of bulbs

4. Check engine light blinks

On the second day (16th March) of giving the vehicle when we inquired they chalked out the problems in the car which were the above mentioned items as well as noise in fromt bearing, and some leakage of oil from oil seal and some leakage in the hose. Anu how I just asked them to repair all what they have said leaving only the front bearing as they have replaced such number of times and may be just to escalate the bill they do such type of job. Third day (17th March) when we tried inquiring about the status they said they are working and will finish the work today evening and deliver the vehicle next day morning. Next day (18th March) morning when we called they said that the vehicle is repaired and come for delivery after lunch time. Before leaving home to reconfirm when we called they informed that the engine of the vehicle is seized and it has thrown all its coolent, so don't come today we will inform you. After lot of discussions and writing to Customer Care, Tata Motors they have repaired the vehicle, but not in proper way. Its engine was seized and must have damaged its cylinder, piston and ring. But they have only changed head gasket and claim that its fully repaired and can be delivered. Though, I tried telling to deaf ears of Customer Care, Tata Motors, I am forced to take the delivery of the vehicle which I may take tomorrow. But I am still concerned about the performance of the vehicle as in my friend's (an Automobile engineer) view as the engine repair is not done properly it may overheat in future and may lead to engine fire thus make a concern for the occupant.

I have read lot of news about the international companies calling back their car and repairing and replacing the defective parts, but the Tata Motors is pathetic. I had three major failures in the present car but they have not taken responsibility and I have to get it fixed by paying money. Most of the time I tried contacting Customer Care and senior officers in Tata Motors but to no proper answer. To name a few

1. Mr K.P. Sharma, Head, Customer Care, India based in Mumbai

2. Mr Kapil Kulkarni, Head, Customer Care, Western Region, Based in Mumbai

3. Mr Karthikeyan Puglendi, Incharge, Customer Care, Based in Mumbai

They mostly talk in favour of the dealer and forced the customer to do according to the dealers. I will try to warn the people that think twice before buying any tata car.

I tried bringing it to the knowledge of "Jago Grahak Jago" for help and let me see. Though I am contacting a Consumer Court for the same and let me have the experience.

Sanjay Kumar Singh
