Extended Warranty

Ref: Vehicle No: MH-02-BD-1498 Tata XL Classic Dicor. Purchased by me in Aug'2007 Total KM Reading as on date:88000KM

Reg: Extended Guarantee and breakdown of vehicle.

I have been using Tata Indica since 2000 and have been staunt supporter of Tata Vehicle having gone in for the top end Tata XL Dicor Classic.

I have been regularly giving my vehicle for mainenance to Richard garage, marol, Andheri who have regualrly taken my vehicle under tata Moror AMC earlier and now AMC from Richard garage.

On 27th Aug'2010 while on my way to Pune the vehicle broke down at vashi. I called Mr. Kiran-Owner of Richard Garage and asked his advice. Since the vehicle needed to to be towed down to Richard garage from Vashi and due to octroi problems I was advised to show it to a local mechanic. The mecahnic after verification said that the Timer belt and water pump is broken. I immidiately phoned Mr. Kiran who siad that the same is covered under extended warranty and the vehicle should be towed to their garage. I arranged for the same and handed over the vehicle to Richard Garage on 27th itself who have officially confirmed taking the vehicle in thier garage on 30/8.

It is more than 1 1/2 months and the vehicle has not been delivered back to me. Firstly the vehicle which was under Tata Motors AMC the timer belt should have been changed at 70000KM.Pls ask Richard garage as to why they have not changed the same. This negligience could have cost my life had the vehicle broken down on the highway.

Richard Garage is now washing their hand off by telling me that since the vehicle was shown to outside mechanic the same will not be covered under extended warranty and I will have to pay Rs.1, 25, 000/- for repair of the vehicle.

I am totally upset and need you to kindly intervene and prevail upon Richard Garage that in the first place they should have replaced the Timer Belt at the scheduled time i.e70, 000 KM.Had they changed the vehicle would not have broken down. In any case when the vehicle breaks down on the highway what am i supposed to do. Should I not get my vehicle checked for some minor problem.

I understand that Richard Garage has been trying to start thye vehicle with the help of Lucas and Tata Motor Personal. If the Vehicle is so complicated and cannnot be handled by Richard garage why such a vehicle should have been launched. Richard garage were kind enough to show me another Tata XL Classic Dicor with the same problem thus adding salt to injury.

Pls take up seriously with Richard and direct them to rectify the fault.
