I hired Icm pack n move to shift my house hold belongings from chennai to Mumbai (g.c no. 81720). I had taken an insurance of Rs. one lakh and paid a premium of Rs. 3000 towards the same. Shifting was done on 4th oct and delivered on 7th oct. During the packing process 4 critical panels of my wall unit were damaged. Our valuable cane furniture were literally converted into a scribbling pad by noting the packing numbers with PERMANENT MARKERS on them. The same was brought to the notice of Mr Sashikant singh of icm chennai. During the unloading four out of the six wheels of our Tv unit was broken. The Manager here (Mr Dixit) promised to sort all of the above on the very next day. But the next day never came!!! He just made excuses and finally stopped attending to our calls. I contacted ICM chennai and spoke to Mr sashikant singh. The next day One Mr upadhyay came to visit from icm mumbai. After numerous followups he promised to pay the claim on 5th nov. When contacted on 5th he said 7th nov but never paid anything. Finally we called and contacted Mr Babu in icm chennai who promised some action and requested a mail in this regard. I sent the mail immediately and urged immediate action. I contacted Mr Navin Sharma, Director, icm who promised to do the needful. Two days on, Mr Sumir Joshi of icm mumbai came for a visit. He promised a carpenter the next day to finish the job. The carpenter came empty handed and said the cane furniture will be varnised the next day. He did come the next day but to my ultimate shock, was not aware of the A, B, C'S of varnishing. He literally threw varnish on my cane furniture and chiseled the permanent marker writings to my utter shock. I called mr Joshi and told him that the carpenter does not know anything and i would not like to handover my precious wall and tv unit repairs to him after seeing the damage he had done to my cane furniture. Now Mr Joshi of ICM says that the insurer will pay Rs.3000 (that is my premium back) towards damages!!! What a new way to cheat! He has not provided the insurer's details. I am not sure if the premium was pocketed by icm or if the claim was pocketed by them. I have been managing the tv unit with 2 wheels and paper tucked in other places for support. The wall unit is also unstable and we have to constantly remind our 7 year old son to keep away from it.
