Mahindra Scorpio VLT Automatic
Poor Turning radius need my money back

Dear Sir,

I bought a new Scorpio VLX Automatic on 17 August. From the very first day of purchase, I am having difficulties to drive it, because of Poor Turning Radius; it will not turn like normal vehicle turns. It needs large area to make U turns. Very difficult to fit in tight parking areas...

I checked with TVS Trivandrum helpline also sent a note to Mahindra and Mahindra, two mechanics from TVS Trivandrum came home and checked my VLX AUTOMATIC. They confirmed that my vehicle has poor turning radius BUT they are helpless as Mahindra put internal locks in steering box to avoid vehicle rollover. I think Mahindra made a bad move on this ……It is better to go for electro hydraulic steering rather than locking steering like this.

I am totally disappointed now; I never did a test drive before I purchase my VLX-AT. I just trust on their website and the pictures sent from the Mahindra team.

• Second thing is the interiors, especially the A/C switches. Please find attached picture of A/C switches on instrument cluster. They started to fade before the first service. I am not touching those switches often. I am just using the fan switch instead. Looks like those switches are of cheap quality.

• I had to return the vehicle to TVS to fix another manufacturing defect. The 4 pressure pipes under the gear box which brings the hot oil to the radiator too cool, the pipes were substandard so TVS replaced it……… Hope they fix the issue now.

I would like to know whether there is any chance to unlock the steering as in normal vehicle. I don’t want to stuck in hairpin turns or U turns.

I am still using my Tavera Neo or TAXI to go to places. I use my VLX AUTOMATIC only for straight roads which is more than 8 meter wide.

I hate more and more after every time I drive my VLX AUTOMATIC. I hear bad words from other motorists each time I drive this crap, because it block traffic in U-turns.

There is a sticker on its windscreen from the factory, says that “AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION”. Recently I have added another sticker in red bold letters just above it states “POOR TURNING RADIUS, PLEASE GIVE WAY “.

Hope this sticker help me on U-turns and sharp curves..

The vehicle is still in my garage and driven only 1500Km. I had planned long trips……………. but now I am not confidant on this vehicle. I have already made scratches on the bumper as it not turning according to my 20 years driving experience in various cars.

I choose automatic version to make my driving easier but it became scary and I hate to drive now.

I have sent many complaints to Mahindra but their reply is below.
