Sub: Immediate action to be taken against the illegal direct tatkal booking done by the mentioned agents in the letter.
Anyone who has ever tried to book a railway ticket under the Tatkal scheme knows the inherent pains attached to it.
Even if you reach the reservation counters at the station at 6.30 a.m for the counters to open at 7.30 a.m., mentally patting yourself on the back and sniggering at the unlucky others still sleeping peacefully, you are dismayed to find a long snaking queue in front of you.
And even if you are one of the priveleged first ten people in line, you find that the tickets are sold out before you even fish out your form.
A common consumer like us even after standing in the queue for more than 24 hours, did not get tickets as these touts of different travel agencies are procuring all the tatkal tickets with help from the railway reservation staff.
The Tatkal tickets which are meant to be booked at railway reservation counters sharp at 8 in the morning already get conked off as soon the system gets on.
At this ongoing summer rush, bunch of unauthorised travel agents, touts, and fraudsters are selling railway tickets illegally to gullible passengers.
These unauthorised travel agencies are allegedly running an illegal business of procuring and supplying of railway reservation tickets to customers, at a higher cost, infringing on the rights of legitimate customers standing in queue.
Several tickets are booked with fictitious names under Tatkal scheme, the touts of the organised racket had been standing in front of various reservation counters as early as 4.30 a.m.
When the reservation begins at 7.30 a.m, they would submit multiple reservation forms at once and reserve tickets under the Tatkal system in various trains.
These tickets will then be sold subsequently in black market to those in dire need at exorbitant rates.
Beginning this summer, unprecedented demand has been there for railway tickets across the city and the offenders are using this as an opportunity to mint money.
Through this letter i want to mention the following travel agents which are indulging in this fradulent act against the railways and the country's government.

I would like to mention that under Section 143 of Railways Act 1989 its a
Penalty for unauthorised carrying on of business of procuring and supplying of railway tickets.-
(1) If any person, not being a railway servant or an agent authorised in this behalf, --
(a) carries on the business of procuring and supplying tickets for travel on a railway or for reserved accommodation for journey in a train; or
(b) purchases or sells or attempts to purchase or sell tickets with a view to carrying on any such business either by himself or by any other person, he shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years or with fine which may extend to ten thousand rupees, or with both, and shall also forfeit the tickets which he so procures, supplies, purchases, sells or attempts to purchase or sell: Provided that in the absence of special and adequate reasons to the contrary to be mentioned in the judgment of the court, such punishment shall not be less than imprisonment for a term of one month or a fine of five thousand rupees.
(2) Whoever abets any offence punishable under this section shall, whether or not such offence is committed, be punishable with the same punishment as is provided for the offence.
Being a legitimate citizen of India i request you to verify this matter as soon as possible.
A drive need to take place by railway vigilance officials, anti corruption officials of CBI, police cops and the other concerned authorities and this bunch of unauthorised travel agents, touts, and fraudsters selling railway tickets illegally should be nabbed and all their illegal activities should be seized.
A common consumer like us is exploited by many folds by these people.
Am sure a large number of tickets, blank as well as filled requisition slips for reservation, and booking registers will be confiscated over there if some action takes place against them.
These touts are infringing a common man's right in a democratic country like India.
I beseech that an immediate action should be taken on this matter.
I'll be highly gratified and appreciative for your instantaneous and immediate action against them.
