Mumbai Railways Parcel Service
Illegal Brokers at Parcel Office

I received a parcel on 12th of December from Trivendrum and I have experienced a embarrassing situation while collecting the Parcel. As soon as I went to that location in Lokamanya Tilak Terminus, Mumbai, a person arrived me asking for the courier details. I said him about my bike and he took us to the parcel office directly, opened a register ans said that he will get the bike and was asked to pay Rs600 exclusive of the parking charges to collect my Bike. When ased for the reason, he said like there are some rules for a vehicle shipment and we need to par > Rs 2000 if a official proces is incurred. I believed this for a while and went all together to Chembur to withdraw money from ATM. It took nearly 2hrs to find one and come back on a Sunny day and meanwhile called up my colleagues for inquiry. I came to know that there were no such rules and finally went to the office and collected the bike. After coming out he came to me and demanded Rs100 for taking the bike out. I was very embarrassed with the situation and finally I had to give him the money to collect as it took almost 4hrs by then to complete the process. More over these activities are supervised by jawans present at that location.

It is hence requested to ensure that such people who seems to be the employees and having freedom of handle the office files are avoided there by the confusion is reduced and the respect towards the Railways is improved.
