I have sent below email to Etihad airways 09 Dec. I have not received a single response till now.

1) I had travelled with my family to India (Mumbai) from US (Phoenix) via Etihad Airlines. Journey Date : 30 Nov. Flight EY 206

2) At time of checkout I didn't get my 2 baggages.

1st one was :- Televison Set (545 $ - informed to Airline representative)

2nd one was :- Suitcase. At time of filling PIR report I had declared that BAG I was carrying had used clothes, used shoes & sandals, Laptop Charger & Choclates

& I had clearly informed Airline representative that in that BAG i was carrying valuabless from US that costed approx 4000 Rs to 4500 Rs.

3) On 3rd Dec'12 evening I received my Suitcase (This was in damaged condition). Airlines got this BAG delivered at my resedential address.

Custom clearance of this BAG was done by Airline representative. Custom person had evaluated this BAG's value to be 40, 000 Rs and same was informed to Airline representative.

Even after informing Airline representative that valuables in that BAG costed aroung 4000 - 4500 Rs only,

Airline Representative did not bother to call us that Customs had wrongly valuated Baggage cost and got it cleared from Customs.

Also Airlines had told me that for collecting my Televison set I need to come personaly to Mumbai Airport i.e Airline representative knew that I was going to come at Airport for collecting my second

misplaced luggage they could have hold back custom clearance of my Suitcase so that I could have personaly taken up this issue with custom department.

Please note :

Total no of luggages I was having at time of Checkout were :-

4 Checked in Baggage & 2 Cabin Baggages : - Custom evaluation 20, 000 Rs for all Baggagess

Baggage (suitcase) Misplaced by Airlines :- Custom evaluation 40, 000 for this single Bag - custom clearance done by Airline representative.

As per Custom rules I & my family were allowed to carry Valuables worth 70, 000 Rs from US to India. At the time of leaving airport on 2nd Dec'12 with all BAG's Custom had given me balance of 50, 000 Rs and this was sufficient for getting my misplaced BAG and Television set (costs 545 $ ) cleared from Customs without paying any custom duty.

Because of Negligence of Airline representative I had paid Custom duty of amount 10, 815 Rs for my Television set.

I had personally gone on 6th Dec'12 to Mumbai airport from Pune & invested my full working day (I came to India for few days for project work and due to Airline Negligence my 1 full day got wasted).

I had already taken up this issue with Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Mumbai Airport as per him also it was responsibility of Airlines to inform Customer's before getting their baggage cleared custom's also he informed to Etihad representative.

This trip of mine was the worst I ever had. Because of Airline negligence I had Physical & Mental Stress also Monetary loss. I will never ever prefer to travel by Etihad again also I am expecting that all monetary loss I had should be settled by Airlines.

Will send the Customs Receipt and custom document scanned copies by tomorrow. Hope this time i will not be disappointed and i will get positive response.
