Service issue

I have taken a laptop with 3yrs full warranty from Dell and now I got a problem.

This laptop has been gifted by one of my friends. My friend has taken this laptop from a known person but I dont know on whose name its been registered.

Now when I call them they are asking the name where laptop has been taken. Even though I have all the info related to laptop other than the name it is taken on Dell service team is not going to accept it.

Can you please help me in resolving this issue.
