National Association for the Blind, Uttarakhand has developed a Residential Resource and Vocational Training Centre for visually impaired students at Haldwani, Distt. Nainital, Uttarakand. Presently we are providing free residential, food, educationa and training facilities to 35 visually impaired students. Most of them are belongs to very poor famiies. All of them are enrolled in nearby government primary and junior high schols with sighted students. We have requested several times the education departments of school education, Uttarakhand to provide us school syllabus books in Braille for the visually impaired students like other sighted students, but from last 3 years we could not receive anybooks/ technical support from the department of school education, uttarakhand. It seems that in Uttarakhand the right to edcation has no importance. The blind students are studying with proper Braille books.
