Dear sir,

National Institute of Film and Fine Arts in short “NIFFA” is a society duly registered

under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961 having its Head Office situated at

35A, Townshed Road, Kolkata – 700 025 under Police Station Bhowanipore.

That the NIFFA is a registered non-profit making society which started its journey in the year 1990 under the brilliant guidance of Late Dhiresh Ghosh who was formerly professor of direction, Film & Television Institute of Pune and is devoted to career development program in the film industry and allied fields. At present the institute runs courses in film direction, film and video editing, camera, T.V. Journalism, acting, dance and like. The training programme is being conducted by veteran film makers and artists as well as former members of The Film & Television Institute of India, Pune. The professional film makers help the students to find avenues for being absorbed in the industry.

With a view to open a franchisee NIFFA gave advertisement in the leading newspapers sometimes in the year 2008.

Mr. Alok Chattaraj was successful in impressing NIFFA that he had a vast experience in dealing with the subject and would take every possible steps for maintaining the standard in infrastructural facility and administrative set up and after a series of discussion and deliberation the NIFFA entered into a agreement with the Mr. Alok Chattaraj to open the franchisee at Durgapur.

However Mr. Alok Chattaraj failed and / or neglected to comply with the terms of the agreement and as such has failed to keep his promises.

That NIFFA in good faith keeping in mind the future of the students allowed the Mr. Alok

Chattaraj to run the franchise in spite several latches but even then he did not registered the

names of any students in our registered office and never deposited any money for the same

which he had taken from them. He had not only cheated us, but also cheated the students

which clearly shows the intention of the Mr. Alok Chattaraj to cheat the NIFFA. He

has also defamed NIFFA by publication of filthy and derogatory propaganda

through inter-net and the cause of action started from September.

Against such baseless, frivolous and defamatory allegations of Mr. Alok Chattaraj, NIFFA

has already filed a case being No. C91 before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Alipur,

District South 24 Pargana. and the same is pending adjudication.

Yours Truly

Sudipta De

[General Secretary, NIFFA]
