To bring your kind attention towards the illegal issue of minority
certificate (F. No. 778 of 2006 – 9288-A) and undue advantage of the
same taken by the school namely “St. Joseph’s Convent Higher Secondary
School” D – 26 Ashoke Avenue, PO: Chittaranjan, Dist:- Burdwan, West
Bengal, I request people to ponder upon the following parameters:
1. According to Sec. 12C (b) of Minority Educational Institution Act,
the school should admit requisite percentage of students
belonging to minority class BUT at present the above school has 1800
students among which merely 100 to 120 students belong to mainly
Santhal otherwise Christian community, which is much lower than the
prescribed rule of Government. Chittaranjan is a prosperous township
after all.
2. For the year 150 students were admitted to KG-I among which
only 8 children belong to Santhal and 3 children belong to Christian
community. Where the rule stands for? As a show case, the school authority gives food and chocolates to nearly 50 poor students (may be maximum of them from minority class) during the evening and use their photo to as a show-case to higher authorities as if these poor children are their actual students, which is absolutely false and detrimental.
3. The fee structure is Rs 1380/- (KG-I and KG-II) X 300 students, Rs
1480/- (Class-1 to Class 4) X 600 students and Rs 1650/- (class-5 to
class-10) X 900 students. Therefore, the total monthly income of the
school is Rs 27, 87, 000/- . Total number of teachers and stuffs are 100
(maximum possible, actual number is approximately 74). Considering
payment per head (teaching and non-teaching) as Rs 20, 000/- (which is
absolutely not) per month (N.B: pay-scale of teachers are Rs 4000/- to
Rs 12, 000), expenditure of the school is Rs 2, 00, 000/- per month. Let
Rs 2, 00, 000 is monthly maintenance cost of the school (possible?),
anyway remaining Rs 5, 87, 000/- per month is going to whose pocket?
4. Don’t you think that being enlisted as a Minority Educational
Institutions only 9 Christian administered (according to section 2 (g)
of Institution Act) school is making way to build huge profit?
I am expecting a right judgment about the issue of minority
certificate of the above said institution which is signed by honorable
R. Renganath, Secretary, The National Commission for Minority
Educational Institutions, New Delhi. If you require any document you
can email me, I shall feel glad if I can help you in this matter.
