Today when we are talking about gender equality, the schools which are meant to spread this themselves putting one gender up against the other.
After having been through most strenuous activity of nursery admission process in Delhi, I would strongly suggest that the points system in Delhi schools should be modified to remove extra girl child points.
The age has come when no educated family is making any difference between girl or a boy, then why are we still following same rules. The time when every point counts, why are we denying first boy child, an admission into top of the list schools. Check out the facts from the first list put up by renowned schools in Dwarka Delhi.
- DPS has called candidates with 55 points and above,
- Bal Bharti has invited on 45 points and above,
- ITL called 60 points and above...
which means girl child is getting first preference and then if seats remains and second list is prepared then only a boy child can think of his admission. The schools should think that they are doing robbery on the rights of child who does not even know about this robbery.
I support the reservation for females in areas where it is required like seats in public transport or even EWS quota but not in General category where parent treat both child with equality.
I hope this will be read by our great educationists and decision makers and they act on the seriousness of this crime being done by schools.
