Suspected cheating at Nokia Care Centre

I purchased a Nokia 7610 Supernova handset on 13-Nov. After approx.1 year later, around 07-Dec my display started turning blank (sometimes) & sometimes the color of its wall paper would change to erratic colors on its own.

I went to Nokia Care Centre, Vasant Vihar branch to fin out the problem.

I was told to get a testing done to daignose the problem. I submitted the instrument for testing & left for a stroll outside the centre. Within 15 mins I got a call telling me that the display needs replacement whivh would cost me 1850 Rs. I informed I dont want to replace & went back to collect my instrument. I was aksed to pay 100 Rs as testing fee & was made to sign the job sheet both office & customer copy.

I asked the front desk person why testing results have not been mentioned on the job sheet. I was told since you dont want to go ahead with replacement hence we have not mentioned anything. When instrument was returend, i tried putting back my SIM, battery & back-cover & found that the Display was permanently damaged.

I told the person to see what happend since when i submitted the instarument the display was functional & now after testing it became totally DEAD.

The employee first refused to accept the problem & on my insistence told me that in cases of testing there happen chances that some circuitry gets distrubed which leads to diplay getting dead. He said that prior to testing we inform every customers about this issue. I clearly replied that nobody informed me that such a situation may occur.

I asked them to mention all of this on the job sheet, the front desk person was at a total loss on how to address this issue. I told him to call the Centre manager. The centre manager then arrived after some time & after my insisting he agreed to give the results of testing in writing on the job sheet. For this I had to waste approx 90 mins at the centre just to get my job sheet with the testing result even when I had paid the Testing fee.

I am totally disheartened with the service met out to me & poor service of this Care Centre.

Also must say did not expect my instrument would have such short life... what benefit did i get by purchasing a product from a reputed brand like NOKIA that the display screen firstly started giving problem just one year 20 days after the purchase & after get it tested from a Nokia authorized Care Centre Display screen has been fully damaged.

Expect my grievance will be properly addressed at the earliest.
