Explosion of hawkins pressure cooke

I gifted a Hawkins pressure cooker to my sister 2 years back and had been using it ever since, To my surprise on 6.12.11 when she was cooking rice as usual in the morning it exploded with a bang sound, The upper lid of the cooker propelled like a rocket and hit the roof ceiling and was broken into pieces whereas the lower part exploded in the opposite direction damaging the stove, luckily my sister standing close to the stove escaped unhurt except with minor injury,

I didn't expect such a life threatening failure from such a reputed ISI marked company like Hawkins and hope the company will provide necessary compensation for the damages occurred, If my grievances are not heard I will be forced to file a suit with the consumer redressal forum,
