I purchased a Hitachi Split1.5T air conditioner unit on 1-Oct from PLESANT, 14/3A Gariahat Road, Kolkata, 700019. The unit was installed in my residence the next day by the technicians sent by PLESANT. The technicians installed the unit, powered it on, and hurriedly left saying the room will get cool in 30 mins. We waited for 2 hrs and were surprised to find there was no cooling from the unit. We lodged a complain with Hitachi Customer Center. A team from Hitachi Service Center made a visit to inspect the unit. They found the unit was defective and the gas had escaped due to leakages in the unit. They uninstalled the unit & took it for repair instead of replacing it with a new one. I called Hitachi customer service atleast 50 times to request them to replace the machine as why should I accept a machine that was defective from very new. Customer Service declined to comment saying as per policy they will only repair it even if it was defective from original packing. I am very upset with Hitachi. I made a extremely bad decision to buy Hitachi at much higher price than what LG or Samsung A/c are available. All of them provide 5 yrs warranty. My advice to all is go for LG at lower price and don't spend extra money on Hitachi which will not give you extra peace of mind that you expect. Regards, KM.
