I have noticed one several occassions that the price charged by the vendors located at so many places in the country charge Rs.2 or 3 more than the stated MRP, especially on Drinking water and soft drinks. this is specially prevelant at railway stations and platforms - even at IRCTC regulated food stalls.
yesterday, I was charged Rs. 15/- for a bottle of Aquafina at CST Local Station, Mumbai. There were posters stuck on the stall walls itself which stated the price to be Rs.12/-. these the vendor or stall owner had peeled off, but I happened to see one on the wall of the station. on asking, I was told that extra 3 rupees were being charged for cooling the bottle.
I was really amazed when I started calculating the margin of cheating being done per bottle. Where does the extra money go?? Who gets it??? the vendor&, the contractor&, or some official in the Railway department - for conveniently overlooking all this???
This mal-practice is prevalent all across the country. I've experienced this at Delhi Railway station also.
Even lots of shop-keepers charge this extra amount claiming that they have to bear the electricity charges for cooling the soft drink or water.
Please take notice of this and take appropriate action.
