I received a call from India Today regarding a Golden Box offer in which I was told I will win Cash 1 Lac/Jewellery etc., and was assured of a gift worth 1 Lac if I made a purchase of 20, 000/- Since the communication was brief and also no opportunity is given to verify the offer or the product to be purchased (In this case a Sony C905 MObilephone at 19, 800) there was an immediate purchase. I realised the mistake that this model was not a latest model cancelled the order within 45 minutes of placing the same. Still the item was delivered in my house after cancellation and by mistake it was opened at home by my child. Hence I could not return the product. Later with followup I received Surat Diamonds coupons worth 1 lac 20 coupons of 5, 000 each (Only serial nos are mailed). Upon checking surat offers only items around 9000 and above where only One coupon can be used for each purchase. Effectively I need to spend 1 lac to purchase material worth 2 lacs?? items are overpriced and also I found these coupons were given freely by Surat diamonds to India today (are they fools to give if they did not have huge margins on their products? this was their marketing gimmick)
Good way of cheating the consumers - If anybody is interested in these coupons pl call me at 9989335365 will send u the same
Since I had placed a similar complaint earlier I received many complaints asking for suggestions or people who had been conned similarly
My sincere advice to all is pl dont purchase anything from India Today/Bagit today. Cut their phone calls simply so that u will not get carried away with their offers - u will repent it.
