LingoSolution
Ripped off for my fees as a freelance translato

Hi, I'm a freelance translator working out of Acapulco, Mexico.

After asking me to do a sample text (for free), the owner of this outfit... (LingoSolution, in India)... had me working for 10 days straight, proofreading a sizeable set of documents. I noticed on the PO (work order) that a clause stated that if the "client" did not accept the quality of the work, Lingo would not be liable to pay the fees, so I told the owner that I would prefer to wait until my sample text was approved by the client before starting to proofread the project for them. After two days of waiting, he contacted me and told me that he hadn't been able to contact the client, but that he -as the owner and director of LingoSolution-was authorizing me to proofread the three documents which represented $600 USD in fees.

Yesterday I sent him a progress report saying that I'd be sending him all three completed documents before the deadline and sent him two completed docs in good faith. This morning, I received an e-mail from the owner saying that his client was not happy with the "quality" of the test sample (which I sent in on Jan.14) and that he was very sorry, but that he's unable to pay me.

I warned him that if he refused to give me at least half of my fees for the work that I have completed that I would report him and his agency and he said that I could do whatever I pleased because he was ready to defend himself legally.

Beware of Mr. Prabhat Kumar and his agency: LingoSolution in New Delhi, India.
