I am staying in Bangalore for past 4 years and have seen the culture and people very closely.
I am a regular commuter in BMTC volvo from my home to office and I find it difficult to cop up with Staff recruited (Driver and conductor). I would like to point out some incidents and scenarios where humiliation by Conductor and then driver supporting him was beyond acceptance:
1) They tend to behave like owner of buses, they dictate on where Males have to stand and where females. They do not have any right on ordering a common man on where they need to stand. I have had many rifts with driver specially on this and I was forced to leave the bus cause driver stopped the bus and started abusing in Kannada.
2) Yestedray only when Bus stopped just at HSR BDA junction and some guys wanted to get down there. Actual stop is 100 meters from there and driver did not stop the bus there and when I asked him to stop the bus, conductor started shouting in Kannada.
3) I am from Northen region of India and do not speak Kannada, when driver/ conductor find this they behave racially and ll not respond in a bahaved manner.
4) Most of the times conductor writes on back of the ticket the balance amount and will not give money back until stop comes and when bus gets halted due to passanger asking for money, he starts shouting.
This is not the case with entire staff, but most of the staff is ill mannered and do not have basic manners.
My sincere request to the authority is to put some concrete system so that we common man can be accountable for Driver /Conductor's feedback. Its our money from where entire infrastructure gets generated, we pay taxes.
I did not use my vehicle for office travel every time but now I need to change this if no action is taken by BMTC, they need to be answerable to all this.
