Sir,
On 3rd April I boarded BMTC bus #314, Reg #KA 01 F -1768 from Kodihalli to Trinity Circle at around 11am. For the ticket fare of Rs. 9, I gave him Rs. 100 to the conductor since I did not have the exact change. The conductor replied that he will return the remaining amount before getting down from the bus without mentioning the remaining amount on the ticket. The stop before the trinity circle I asked for the balance amount. He walked away without any response. I blocked him and demanded for the balance amount and then he took the money out of his pocket, I saw him carrying a bunch of Rs.10 & 20 which would not be amount less than Rs.300. He was about to give the balance. He checked my ticket; since he had not mentioned the balance amount on the ticket he didn’t return the balance. The ticket no: was NQ 78 477871.
I agree that the mistake had happened from my side for not getting the balance amount written on the ticket. It happened because of the trust that I had on the BMTC conductor who is working for a dignified organization and also since most of the conductors have the bad habit of returning the balance amount before the last stop.
Why does the conductor need to hesitate to return the balance amount immediately when he had enough change with him? Why did he pretend like not having the change? The above information clearly admits the mistake committed by the conductor.
I request the BMTC administration to advice the employees to behave loyally else such kind of employee’s might spoil the integrity of other employees.
Hoping, hereafter BMTC will make sure that balance amount will be returned to the passengers immediately once the ticket is issued to avoid such kind of dishonest incidents.
