Poor Connectivity and bad support

I have been a BSNL broad band customer for about 5 years now. The service has been scratchy, where it is good at times and bad a times and I was OK with what I had because I used to use the internet only for chat or killing time. I now do a lot with the internet including social networking, ecommerce, tickets, bills etc. along with working from home which is absolutely critical.

BSNL Broadband has become increasingly more frustrating and I see that the service is unavailable most of the times. The lights are on the modem are off every alternate day for hours togehter and me being an engineer am urged to troubleshoot with no respite. The links work good, the phone line is good, but the broadband connection is just unavailable. This is even worse when I get phone calls and this gets disconnected. Very very inconsistent speeds and poor reliability.

There have been cases when I have reached home wanting to complete some work and the connection is OFF which pisses me off!

The worst part is that there is no concept of support.

You call the regional offices, the toll free numbers, the number listed on the website, noone answers.

Even if someone answers, rarely has there been consistent diagnosis of the issue let alone some troubleshooting or fix.

I am looking at options like Tata Indicom or Reliance and will surely be moving away from BSNL this month. Will just retain the 250/month plan as a backup.

BSNL better fix this before their user count will dip to 0.
