NON-ACCESS TO ATM OF THE BANK

I had purchased Gold jewellery with a reputed jeweller in Chennai and decided to use my Canara Bank ATM cum Debit Card for payment. When the girl at the store swiped the card the transaction was declined saying that "the card was invalid". I rushed to the nearest Karur Vysya Bank ATM to withdraw cash the transaction was declined stating that the transaction could not be processed. I walked another half a kilometre and tried to withdraw cash from a Canara Bank ATM. I could neither withdraw cash nor see my balance. I at once called the toll free number at the back of the card. What the official said was shocking! He said that the Bank had to feed the balances to the ATMs in order for customers to withdraw cash. The bank had failed to do that! Today happens to be May day and therefore I could withdraw cash or use my debit card only tomorrow!!! He confirmed that the fault was with the branch and that he was helpless! I came back home and promptly searched the bank's website. (Can someone tell me an email ID for Canara Bank to whom I can address complaints?) I wasted an entire evening!!
