Hello,

I used to have a shopper's stop branded Citi bank credit card. I had made a few purchases on it. and was always regular in paying my bills. But my father fell really sick and all the finances were drawn to his medication and hospitalization. I knew i will not be able to pay the credit card bills, and thus i called and wrote to citi bank about my problem, asking them for 4 months. They agreed on the time and said that i should start paying from october.

My father passed away in between, leading to more financial stress on the family. I did not receive any statements or alerts from the bank in the mean while.

But after 4 months a statement arrived. The outstanding was at 93, 000 approx, while the actual balance was 35, 000 approx.

I called them and mailed them vigorously. I have those mails where i was promised an answer and solution about the mix up. But all those conversation lay incomplete from the bank's side.

One day a barrage of calls started happening. It was not unusual as the bank collection people usually woke up every six months and did this, only to not answer my query.

I told them everything (again), and send them the mails.

But this time, instead of mailing back, they started calling everyone else. I dont know how, but they called my land lord (who thought i have taken a card on his name, and asked us to leave the house), my wife, my sister and 4 of my colleagues. It was very embarrassing, so i had the card settled.

But i still get email alerts, mobile messages and statements every month. On calling, they say that they will look into it, but this just goes on and on.

I have no clue how to deal with this, and what to do. Besides this, my name has been posted to the CIBIL's defaulters list. So i can not get any loans if i want anymore.
