I had purchased a Dell Inspiron Laptop last year after hearing from one of my friend about a good Customer Service of Dell.
I was using a R50 series of IBM previously. Keeping in view my friend's advice, this time I had gone for purchase of Inspiron 1520 that too with a three year complete cover (keeping in view his advice of Good customer service) with Service Tag No. B337S1S.
I am very disappointed with the kind of performance & response i've received from Dell till date, which is listed below:
1) While purchasing the machine (Inspiron 1520), I was not told by the executive that certain applications do not work on Windows Vista, as I told him that I am using applications such as AutoCAD etc.
2) The battery of my machine started creating problem of giving shorter backup soon after the purchase & started giving message to change the battery soon after one year of purchase. Though the machine I was using previously did not create problem during its use for more than 2 years.
3) Now, I have been trying to place an order for replacement of the battery from the last more than a month, but every time I am told that the battery is out of stock I need to call after 15 days when the battery arrives. Even today, when I called the customer care, I was again told that the battery is out of stock & I need to call again after 15 days & the order of the same will be taken only after that.
Battery being an integral part of a laptop, I could not understand that how can it take such a long time & how can a customer wait for so long for a battery. I am facing the battery problem from the last more than 1 month & it seems that the issue cannot be resolved before another 15 days. If I purchase a battery from open market, the 3 years Complete Cover (what I have paid for) will be void. I’m unable to understand what to do.
This all indicates negligence on the part of Dell representatives & it seems nobody is bothered. I’m feeling like I have made a big mistake of opting for Dell brand. During my use of the laptop I had recommended Dell to a number of friends of mine but I feel that was my mistake.
In case the problem is not resolved soon, I will have no choice but to knock the door of the Regulatory Authorities like Consumer Forum.
