Sub: Complaint against Battery Point authorized dealer of Exide Battery.

Dear Sir,

This complaint is being lodged against your authorized dealer Sri Prangour Pal who run his business of Exide Battery under the name & style of “Battery Point’ at 58, Raja S.C. Mullick Road, Jadavpur, Kolkata 700 032 (Phone No.2414 9799, 9830745852 (M)) for continuous harassment to me, a customer, with complete disregard to your company’s goodwill.

I purchased an “Exide” Battery having Serial No. DG150R/AV6000307 / 071050915 (Xerox copy enclosed) along with an inverter of Luminous brand on 25.06.2007 from your above named dealer. On 19.06. I intimated to Shri Pal over telephone that the inverter was not functioning properly and indicated as low battery after 30 minutes of operation. On Shri Pal’s advice I sent the Battery at his shop on 22.06.2008 and he got that tested in presence of his Manager Shri Goutam Basu and intimated me that the Battery was OK and the problem was with the inverter. Accordingly I lodged a complain with the inverter maker on 23.06.2008 and then again on 25.06.2008. The inverter maker tested the whole thing and intimated that the inverter was OK and the problem was with the Battery. It was found then the battery failed to retain the charge more than half an hour.

Then I made several requests to your dealer in person as well as over telephone to do something positive, so that the thing is operational ultimately on 27.06.2008 a joint verification was made in presence of representatives of the inverter maker and that of your dealer and it was conclusively found on joint inspection that the Battery itself was problematic and not functioning and needed to be changed. I discussed the matter with your office in presence of Shri Goutam Basu and I was told that if the Battery caused problem it would be changed on 04.07.2008. I went to your dealer’s premises with the request of replacing the battery and your dealer told me to visit again on 06.07.2008. Accordingly I went to his shop on 06.07. but the dealer refused to change the battery on some pretext or other and ultimately told me to go to you.

Mr. Susanta Chakraborty of your company helped me a lot and as per his advice I returned the defective battery to your office (Xerox copy enclosed) and purchased a net set of battery from your another dealer M/s. Joy Ma Kali Auto Electric (Xerox copy enclosed)

On the face of the foregoing facts and circumstances I request your good self to take necessary measures against the dealer who does nothing but harass your customer and thereby causes your reputation and goodwill under jeopardized.
