Employee Provident Fund
EPF cheque bounced

Respected Sir/Madam,

I submitted my EPF form for withdrawal of my PF money on 12/09/ 08 at the EPF office Nehru Place. Few months later when I inquired about my form status they said its in process and hence then whenever I called them they gave me the same answer that my form is in process and the money will be deposited into my account next month. Later the EPF office was shifted to Wazirpur Industrial area and even there I used to get the same answer. But on 12/08 I received an SMS from my ICICI bank which said the following:

'Cheque No. 988168 for INR 29892 has been dishonoured on 12 August'

I called my bank on the same day to find out who dropped this cheque inot my account and why did it bounce. The executive said that the cheque bounced because of insufficient funds in the account of the person who deposited it, but could not tell me whose cheque was it. I thought it might be from the EPF office and I called them and they confirmed that cheque bearing cheque No. 988168 was deposited by them and also confirmed the cheque amount which is Rs. 29892. When I told them that their cheque has bounced they asked me to come to the EPF office Wazirpur and meet the PRO.

After a lot of running around the EPF office to get my money I finally receive a cheque which bounced. I was really in need of this money and till now I'm not sure if I'm going to get my money or wait for another year to get it.

Here are the details which you might require:

Name: Praveen Kumar Vajipeyajula

EPF A/C: DL/33692/000268

PF withdrawal form submitted: 12/09

SMS received from ICICI bank: 12/08

Cheque Amount: Rs. 29892

I also have the EPF cheque sent by my bank to me accompanied by a letter which states the reason for not being able to deposit the PF amount Rs. 29892 into my account.

Please advise me what should be my next step.

Thanks

Praveen
