HCL INFOSYSTEMS LTD - LEAPTOP POWERLITE 9100 PL
NON COMPLIANCE OF PRODUCT SUPPLIED

Dear Sir,

I bought my HCl leaptop V2002 model on 2nd June from Hcl Showroom, Kolkata. E ven though, I had upgraded my RAM to 1GB, the performance was not up to the mark. I study in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, so I returned to college after the summer vaccation on 25th June. On 29th June it crashed, for the first time. A stop error blue screen came with a lot of blaring noise. The message displayed was check if Bios not updated or Drivers creating problem or Visual drivers. I formatted all the drives and reinstalled Windows XP and the drivers. But the problem persisted. Every time some song was played it would crash in a few minutes with the blue screen message showing check if any newly installed hardware or software and disable bios menu option caching or shadowing. Only the windows XP and the drivers, the bare minimum was installed, and that also very properly. No other software was installed, yet such a message came. And I was never able to find the caching and shadowing options in the BIOS menu. So I took it to the HCL Service Centre at Vellore (VASAVI COMPUTERS, VELLORE). They reinstalled Windows XP and the drivers. However they could not solve the problem. They said they were incapable of solving and I had to take the leaptop to HCL service centre, Chennai. The problem was so bad that the system crashed just after two minutes or rebooting or less. I took it to HcL Service center, Chennai Twin Tower, TTK Road. They were able to improve the condition, but the problem was not fully solved. Whenever, I listened to songs it used to crash, however on seeing movies it was alright. So I stopped listening to songs completely, hoping that when I return to Kolkata for my winter vaccation, it can be repaired. After, I gave it to HCL SERVICE CENTER KOLKATA at end November, they said that there was no hardware problem, and had updated bios and reistalled oS and the drivers. But they were not able to solve the problem. Whenever, I listened to songs it used to crash, however on seeing movies it was alright. And day by day the problem deteriotaed. Earlier if it stopped after listening to 2 songs, now it stopped even before the first song was over. And then on january first week a warning came SMART card status bad. It has been giving problems in startup ever since. on 28 th February, it crashed down completely and has been giving serious problems in startup. Startup took place only in presence of bootable cd. Even after complete formatting and reinstallalation of Windows XP and the drivers, there is problem in startup.

Dear Sir, please advice me what to do. I have spent a lot of money in purchasing this laptop, but I have never been satisfied with it. Please help me.
