Sofa Upholstery Spoilt in 15 days

Dear Executive,

I bought a Recliner Sofa set from Home & Beyond at a huge cost almost one year back. Within 15 days the Upholstery started having cracks on it. I complained to the showroom saying that the sofa is covered in 5 yrs warranty and therefore the upholstery should be changed. I found that there was another same sofa set lying at the showroom with same defect.

The very next day an executive came from Home & Beyond & confirmed that there is a defect in the Upholstery. But post that there was no response & I had to run to the showroom for redressal of problem.

Few days later, the showroom executive made me speak to their area manager, Manish, but to no awail.

After following up for almost three months, Manish told me that the best they can do is to bear the cost of labour, but the cost of Upholstery has to be born by me. This cost is approximately Rs 11000.

Now it is almost 9 months from the date of purchase. They keep on saying that Upholstery is not part of Warranty. But if the Upholstery does not even last for 15 days, there is a serious problem.

I have spoken to the MD of Home & Beyond, and he also shuns the responsibility.

I have no other recourse but to contact consumer forum.
