Santro Nov Model - Manufacturing defect in the crankshaft

I have a Hyundai Santro Xing XG, bought in Nov end 2004. I am the only driver, single owner and have driven less than 29, 000/- Kms. I had purchased 4 years extended warranty and additional rust proof coating for extra protection. The vehicle has not met with any major accident and has minor dents and scratches, which is typical of any city driven cars. The vehicle is otherwise in a immaculate condition and serviced throughout by HMPL (Hyundai Company owned Service Center)

I had a small problem with the pick-up in the 2nd and 3rd gears but is hardly noticeable. I took my vehicle to HMPL on Friday (27th March) for a check up. I got a shocking call from them saying there is some compression problem (apparently they did 2 drive tests earlier in Jan and Feb and could not trace anything) and they need to open the engine. If there are only minor issues then they would charge me Rs. 25, 000/- only. They were not able to articulate the problem clearly and just saying that the engine needs to be opened. I fail to understand how a vehicle driven by single person, run less than 29, 000/- kms and maintained by HMPL can have problems within the engine. I have lodged a complaint to customer service but haven't got any satisfactory response.

I was browsing the internet and found that Santro Xing Nov has potential problem with the crank shaft and needs to be replaced. This problem seem to be a manufacturing defect in that lot and reported by several customers (I have the complaints from the internet that I found from atleast 4 customers who have the Nov model and there are many more - just took a sample). I expect the company to recall the lot and rectify the problem
