ATM Short payment

I made a transaction at ICICI ATM on Oct 10th. I withdrew Rs. 15000. On Receipt I noticed that one of the note that had been passed on as a Rs. 500 was actually a Rs. 100 note. This was around 10 PM. I tried calling up ICICI customer care but got a message that my call cannot be entertained due to high volume of calls. I resorted to writing my account manager (Online). I was given a request number and was assured that something would be done in 7 working days. Next morning I called up the customer care again and this time a lady explained me the process. They take stock of the ATM at the end of the day. If there is any mismatch in the amount disbursed as against the amount disbursed on paper then the look at the complaints received for that particular ATM and take action accordingly. I had lost hope after hearing this because in my case I did not get 28 Rs 500 notes and then 6 Rs. 100 notes. What I got was a Rs. 100 note buried in the stack of Rs. 500 notes and then 5 Rs. 100 notes. This may mean that someone made a mistake at the bank or someone who load the ATM played foul and replaced one Rs. 500 note with a Rs. 100 note. I waited for 7 days and after a reminder got a one liner that the transaction cannot be reversed as I have been paid the full amount as per their records.

Reason for writing here is

1 I wanted to keep a record of this so that I have a history just in case this happens again.

2 I wanted to see if this is happening frequently with other people as well.

3 I cannot afford to let this happen again and again.
