Petrol pump attendants cheating customers

I have seen on numerous occasions that the petrol pump attendants fool customers while refueling.

What they do is show the customers the zero reading then engage in some small talk and quickly reset the reading to a previously set one.

Then they start filling from the set reading.

An example would be let’s say I want to fill petrol worth Rs 200

So they will show me the zero distract me and reset the system to Rs 50

Then start filing from Rs 50 onwards up till 200

So I get only petrol worth 150 Rs.

This is theft and the police should take some actions against these thieves
