Need information on general post

Hello Sir/Madam

I am a resident of Tolichowki, Hyderabad. I have posted a letter to my relative in Saudi Arabia (Hafr-Al-Batin) last thursday i.e., June 11 via general post through a nearby post office. I have affixed stamps as per the advice of a gentleman at the counter and dropped my letter in the post box. My query is, how much time will this take for our postal department to ship it off to Saudi and what is the overall turn around time for my relative to recieve it. Also, I have heard that letters sent abroad via general post are taken too lightly and misplaced or remain undelivered easily, is this true?

Appreciate any response from somebody having experience in this regards.
