I was travelling by Swantrta Senani express train ni 2562, in AC 2 Tier, the train left delhi on 20th June at 8.30 PM. The quality of food which was served was too bad to swallow. The staff who served the food charged Rs 50, even after i confirmed with him the rate for vegeterian food, he insisted that the rate is Rs. 50. Railways must display the rates at prominent place in coaches at least one in each coach.
Railways have contracted the services to various caterers without having a system to check such services. It is only in case of complaint that the Railway authorities act as i learnt. Duch contracting does not absolve railways to ensure proper quality of service be it food or cleanliness of toilets, bed roles etc.
The bed role which was supplied looked as if it was not clened for months. Surprisingly the staff who was providing the bed sheets and blankets told that the blankets are cleaned once in a year. The contractors have not even bothered to train their staff regarding the frequency of cleaning the linen. As i learnt that the contract for provinding these services are given at a huge rate Approx Rs 80000-100000 per coach per month. Such huge expenditure without and monitoring are totally wasteful and a burden to Govt exchequer.
The AC of the coach did not work for at least 3 hours on the day. There was no water available in the toilet for hours.

The service which is provided in the trains which goes towrads UP, BIHAR, WEST BENGAL are far too inferior as compared to the trains which run between Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi- towrads Southern part of india. I am not sure whether there is difference in the rate of such services being provided. If no the railways muat look into the detail and look for some solution like.
Checking and certifying the quality of food before it is served, similar certification can be done by railwya for the bed roles and cleanlinees.
