Two pairs of Rechargeble batteries received during purchase of camera not working

I had purchase Kodak EasyShare C160 digital camera (CAT No.8374118) on 28.6.09 from Vishal Retail Ltd. Guwahati. AS two sets of batteries received during purchase did not work I had to purchase duracell battery for using the camera. Even after recharging the batteries, they are not working. I would like to know whether I had been given damaged battery during my purchase of camera and would like the company to replace the batteries.
