Manufacturing Defect in Coffee mug set

Dear Sir/ Madam

I had purchased one coffee mug set of LA OPALA brand from Vishal Mega Mart in Vapi (Gujarat) in the month of August-09.

When I used it last week, one of the mug got broken when I poured hot tee.

The way it got broken is purely because of manufacturing defect (may be ceramic bonding was poor).

Yesterday I went to Vishal Mega Mart from where I had purchased the set.

In the beginning they were asking for the bill which I was not having. But later they got convinced and has called me to give a written complaint with the broken set (1 mug is broken and 5 are okay which I have not used) to LA OPALA about this.

My query is that, Vishal Mega Mart is telling after giving this written complaint I have to contact LA OPALA directly and not to them. Why it is so?

I need your help to know the correct procedure to get a good set of product from LA OPALA.

Please advise.
