HARRASSMENT BY SEERVICE CENTER AND CHEATING

The experience which I had with the service of my washing machine, has been so horrendous that it has forced me to do start a campaign the nature of which I am not comfortable myself.

I Dr Pramod Kumar, consultant with Hindalco Hospital of the Aditya birla group, had bought a fully automatic washing machine two years back from the local authorised dealer Ms RAJA RAM VINOD KUMAR in Renukoot. The machine was running fine, but just in case as both me and wife are busy consultants, we requested for a routine service as the clothes too were not getting cleaned properly. The engineer came home and checked and concluded every thing was fine a routine check up would fine tune the whole system.

The machine was deposited with the service centre in October 07. It has been a saga of sheer negligence, utterly callous attitude of the service centre, and that too with some one they know very well, (renukoot is not a big town). I shudder to think what would happen to lesser mortals and not to my surprise I found many other sufferers too, but then they thought fighting would further jeopardise their chances of getting the machines repaired, and sending the machine to varanasi was a costly proposition.

I was informed after three months despite repeated reminder that the machine has been checked and found OK and will be sent to my residence when ever a suitable transport is arranged. the after few weeks, I was told that the system has been checked, and needs to be reviewed by the senior company engineer. A few more weeks passed and then I was told that every thing is fine. And then the shocker few weeks back. The PC of the system has conked and that was found after the servicing engineer had taken the machine to his house and observed that the machine actually stopped MID WAY . This was never the problem when the machine was sent for repairs. And 9 months, I am told that I will have to pay 4000 Rs for the new kit and then it would be repaired.

i tolerated even that, as my old mom was finding it difficult to keep with the job at home. But it has been two months, now and the kit which has been urgently indented, has not arrived. Finally I have brought the old machine back, and use it as a water tank, and the local washer man, rinses clothes in it. I believe the service centre has replaced my equipment and given a defective one and trying to cheat me into paying for the repairs.

I have already spoken on the issue on in the weekly meeting of the Rotary club (being the current secretary and a MPHF) and moved a resolution asking all members to abstain from LG products. The GM purchase has stalled all enquiries for LG products and my brother who heads the electrical department of Hindalco, has already instructed the his staff to stop all LG products usage. the local IMA branch, where also I am the secretary, the matter was highlighted and the issue of ill treatment to doctors, who are one of the staunchest supporters of this brand was discussed. I have already requested the local dealer that he should give a rented space in front of his show room where I will display this unique machinery, and if he disagrees he will be getting no help in the next mela which he organises.

Lest you believe I am a disgruntled customers. Remember the profession that I come from. And just for records I own two LGACs, microwave, mobile handsets, TV- LCD,
