(Dealer PRASHANT SALES) USHA Sewing Machine Design Master
The Sewing Machine doesn't work properly for long

I had gifted the machine to my wife on our marriage, with lots of joy. While purchasing the machine we had thought to buy a simple hand machine, but then looking at the long term needs we opted for the "Design Master" even after it was out of our budget.

At the time of purchase of the 'Design Master' the dealer did'nt provide us the original USHA stand and also didn't inform us that it would cost extra Rs.500/-. He just gave his home made stand and other accessories. During its initial period we didn't have much stitching work. But after returning from our honeymoon we tried to stitch some clothes, but the machine did not work properly. Whenever we called the dealer he told me to bring the machine at his shop. I took the machine twice to his shop. But everytime the machine worked properly at his shop and would not work at home. The traffic at Kalupur Railway station is too much therefore it is worse to drive by taking the machine on the bike. Even though I took the machine twice at his shop. Now, I had got frustrated and had thought of taking the machine to USHA company. First time when I took the machine to the USHA showroom I was given the machine back after two days saying the needle was fixed wrongly, where on the other side the dealer said that the showroom person was wrong on "how to fix the needle". At that time I had not checked the machine whether it was working properly or not. Next morning when we checked the machine it was not working and so called the USHA showrrom. A mechanic was sent two days after our complaint.

The mechanic visited us on Thursday evening (on 5.2.2009) and could not repair the machine even after wasting 2 hrs on the machine and was asking to sign the visit copy. But, we refused to sign the visiting copy as the machine did not work properly even after he wasted his energy on it. We showed him the poor stitch produced by the machine. Even then he told us to sign the copy and went away. I am surprised that even after the machine did not get repaired how could he request us to sign the visiting copy. It was his duty to come to us the next day for repairing the machine. We were expecting that the showroom mechanic would visit us the next day for completing the work, but it is disgusting neither we had any call from the sowroom nor the mechanic visited us the next day.

Now, me and wife had really got fed up with the machine and made our mind to return or replace the machine. We took the machine to the dealer "PRASHANT SALES' he saw and said that the needle was wrongly insterted. I told him that I had taken the machine to USHA showroom where the mechanic had fixed the needle. I am really surprised that, who is wrong; the showroom or the dealer? for fixing the needle. A new machine if it doesnt work properly during its initital period and needs repairing work everytime shall not work for long. We had purchased the machine hoping that we shall have a long term relationship with the machine and it would provide us better service for years. Therefore, I had made my mind to return or replace the machine. We argued with the dealer "PRASHANT SALES' for 1 hour, and then told that we will go to Consumer Forum if the machine doesnt work properly. I also told him to replace the machine but, he assured us to submit them the machine for repairing for a last time. He said that we will open the machine and check the problem. We acted accordingly and were delivered the machine after 1 week.

The machine at the time of delivery worked somewhat properly. Actually, we do not have much stitching work, so the machine lies uselessly for long. Today, after 1 month we have shifted to Gandhinagar- Gujarat. My wife sat on the machine to sew some clothes she found that the machine did not work properly and the condition became the same as it was earler. Now, I have thought moving to Consumer Forum to get rid of the problem, as tension rids me whenever we face such problems.

Today, I have made my mind to apply to the Consumer Forum.

I hope you may understand my problem and help me to get rid of the situation.

Thanking you,

Ajay Verma
