PAN Card Lost

Hello,

Last year I lost my PAN Card (PAN: AKKPP4545R). I applied for a new card online. However, I got a letter from the authorities that since the name on the original PAN Card and that on the application does not match, the application could not be processed.

Since then, I am running from pillar to post trying to find out the details on my original PAN Card. However, the PAN Cards division of PAN Card says that they don't have any records online of my card and hence they cant help me. I do not understand how they do not have the records. What am I supposed to do now? Please someone tell me my recourse and how I can get a duplicate PAN Card.
