Malpractice by MTNL in garuda Internet service

I hold a Delhi MTNL's Garuda Prepaid number. I recharged it with Rs.300.00 unlimited internet use coupon on 2nd May at 22.20 hrs. The recharge was successful. But, the internet service has not been started on my number.

I contacted Garuda customer care on 1502 number and I was told:

1. That it takes 24 hours for the internet coupan recharge to take effect. The internet is activated manually by MTNL internet department.

2. As 3rd May was a Sunday and a holiday it will not be counted in the 24 hours period before recharge is activated. I was told that my internet will be activated by 1600 hrs on Monday, 4th May but it is not activated yet.

3. Both Sundays and Saturdays are not counted in the 24 hour period which is taken for the recharge to activate.

4. But, the recharge coupan's one month validity period begins on the day of recharge itself, i.e, in my case, from 2nd May itself. This means two days out of my one month period is already wasted.

5. MTNL enjoys consumer's money for two days without providing them any benefits.

6. There is no way to know the balance amount in the internet account in prepaid internet on MTNL Garuda. No sms detailing the validity period beginning or end is sent by MTNL to consumers. The consumer is left to do his own guesswork. The customer care is also not aware of the validity end date.

I request TRAI to take strong action in this case and to save the gullible consumers from the unethical and greedy practices by MTNL.
