My laptop got lines on its display and took the piece to get serviced by the authorised service centre situated in cochin - edapally. My cd drive also didn't read dvd's written by me so i mentioned it in complaints. Firstly i have been used to sell and service PC's so i know the reasons for the complaints and asked the prices on local stores. Now the game starts after 2 days i got a call that the display is not working. As the cutoff switch of my laptop was a little loose it happened once before and i correpted it myself. I asked them whether the laptop is running or not and they said it is running so i told the factor of lcd cutoff switch to them and they told they will check. Then i told about the firmware update of the dvd drive as it is the reason for the complaint as i used to rectify it myself for the customers but while searching for the firmware in net the cd manufacturer is telling the firmware could only be gotten from acer itself as the model UJDA760 can't be bought from outside as its only sold with acer laptops (thats why i have to ask the service guy for the firmware). The most funny thing is the service guy is asking how one can update a cd drive's firmware he hasn't even heard of thing like that even a fresher in harware know about this. After 1 day i made a call to them them and they are telling its the problem of motherboard and it has to be rectified from bangalore. On the next day i went there and on morning they told they have sended the motherboard to bangalore and i went to the service centre on evening and asked to call the service guy and he told he has send it to bangalore. I explained the things to how rectify things and whats the real problem is and its not with motherboard, while speaking he told me to wait a minute and got inside. Now he was coming with my motherboard (think man he told he has send the motherboard to bangalore). I told him to fuse the cutoff switch (that will remove the cutoff feature though for the least i don't have to bother about it anymore). After that i told how to update firmware of cd drives and he is asking the ways (he didn't know any thing of this). After 2 days that today they call me and told the display is now working and they made it by drying the laptop motherboard (am i a dump i know about pc's man) and they told the display lines is the problem of lcd and it will took 13500 rs to be get rectified (outside price of lcd on local stores is 6000 for chinese lcd and 9000 for original acer lcd). Then i asked about battery they told 5500 rs (outside price of battery on local stores is 3000 for chinese and 4000 for acer original). Now the comedy is the laptop is in the same situation as i have given the girl is saying "Sir the service charge is written on the slip (ie given to me on the day of submission of laptop)"

I told i will come tomorrow and hang up the phone. Now here guys the service charge written is 750 rs. why should i pay the charge as they haven't rectified any problems on asking for firmware they are saying they asked there senior authorities and they didn't know about it or don't have it. and also they have made my cutoff switch messy due to careless removal of panels (though i admire it was loose and should have told them to take care while working with panels). Tomorrow i am going there and going to have a written letter over all procedures and moving it legally.
